Sterling Silver. 950 Cigarette Case Vintage Engraved Japanese Filter Cigs (#007)

  

Previously owned but in excellent condition. The front and back of this item is engraved with its pattern but the sides are not engraved. Item has not been inscribed and ready for new owners initials. Item is old but is fully functional and will have minor signs of wear such as scratches, patina and/or minor nick's or dents but no major damage.

Case is approximately 3.5 x 3.4 x. Case will accommodate up to 18 Cigarettes. Case weighs approximately 4.5 Troy oz. You can place cigarettes up and down in this case. Item includes both straps that hold cigarettes in place when the case is opened.

It is tight but case does fully shut loaded with filtered cigarettes. The case could use a good cleaning inside and out. The wire on one side of the hinge partially comes out with use.

It is easy to push it back in. A silversmith could fix it so it does not come out at all. CIGARETTES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN SALE AND ARE FOR DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY. I do not know the history of this case however from what I have read this was probably manufactured sometime in the 1940's or 1950's.

I believe many of the GI's returning from WW2 brought these home with them from Asia. Case would make an excellent addition to any collection or would make a great gift for that smoker in your life. Sterling Silver cigarette cases that hold modern filtered cigarettes are not very common as most sterling cases were manufactured before filtered cigarettes were the norm.
