Wonderfully whimsical Japanese sterling silver salt and pepper cruet in the form of a bucket or water barrel with a glass liner and removable pepper pot. Dating to the Showa period, very similar pieces were made by Asahi Shoten, a silversmith company that opened in Kannai, Yokohama in 1906 and is known to this day for its premier tableware and fine jewellery.
