ANTIQUE 970 STERLING SILVER ENGRAVED JAPANESE EXPORT POWDER COMPACT WithMIRROR

  

Gorgeous vintage powder compact with mirror, late 1940's, 3 3/4" by 3 3/4" by 1/2" thick, top engraved with acanthus leaves, small cartouche near one corner is engraved "Mary. Underside of the compact has a smaller version of the acanthus design contained within a diamond frame.

Push button on the side releases the latch and opens the compact to reveal the mirror set into the lid- mirror in very nice condition. Beneath the hinged inner lid is the face powder compartment with original powder puff and sifter. In the powder compartment are stamped the marks "10 SILVER 970".

It comes with the original black silk pouch lined with velvet. One slight indent on the bottom of the compact, a few minor surface marks. Weighs 176 grams but bear in mind that includes the weight of a mirror.
